As it stands today, prolonged time spent in space compromises the health of astronauts; They suffer from the loss of bone density, muscle mass, balance disorders, psychological damage, and much more. Now this isn’t dire for shorter missions, but the problem arises when this becomes limiting; When the risks stop our astronauts from being able to go further, venture deeper, fly longer. So the question becomes this:HOW DO WE ALLEVIATE THE STRAIN THAT LONG TERM SPACEFLIGHT PUTS ON OUR ASTRONAUTS? Specifically, on their health. And although typically, you’d think physiological issues, there’s much more to a person's health than that.

Solution

Our solution is a product with software-generated workout and meditation partners to encourage astronauts to exercise and meditate on a daily basis in preparation for longer space missions. Inspection of each individual body part you wish to examine through a body scan, a space projection that can be used to change the atmosphere in each room. There would be a networking feature that allows trained specialist agents on the ground to examine the user's behaviour. In addition, the user can arrange video sessions with their personal agent and keep track of their emotions in a personal diary.

The product is three robots alongside user interface on an iPad.

BOT 1 Hearty

A physical health bot that monitors and relays scan results to the user, and their doctors on the ground to work against any negative effects that space flight can have on the body through generating suggested focused workouts.

BOT 2 Joy

A mental health bot that provides astronauts with access to light therapy and sound baths integrated into individual removable peace pods. The peace pods were designed to provide astronauts with a little bit of effortless regulation on the “zen” front. The pod is a hybrid of a self-timed red and near-infra-red light and a noise-canceling speaker to promote regular energy levels and restful sleep.

BOT 3 MIX

Mix utilizes NASA’s team building challenges such as “survival on the moon” to encourage in-flight teams to engage in problem-solving activities together - only this time, on a whole new immersive level. using 3D projection technology, which is only in its preliminary stage today, Sano can provide access to reprieve within the confines of the ISS.The product is three robots alongside user interface on an iPad.

Applied design thinking to create health solutions controlled by Astrobee
Oversaw the UI design with the accountability of the design system. Collaborated with industrial designers to ideate new possibilities for Astrobee, a free-flying robotic system in the ISS.
